Why send bitcoin to your own new wallet this way.

Every Bitcoin wallet is a diary anyone can read. Pay a landlord or a stranger from your savings wallet and you've shown them your balance and your history.

The usual fix is a second wallet for spending. But fund it straight from the first and the two are joined on the ledger for good, which undoes the point.

Sending through the desk keeps that join off the chain. Your old wallet pays our deposit address, and your new wallet's first bitcoin comes from our payout. Same coin in, same coin out, with every fee shown first.

What each chain shows.

BTC: Every Bitcoin payment is public: the amount and both addresses stay on the ledger for anyone to read.

Both ends are Bitcoin, so both are public. What the chain won't show is a direct payment from your old wallet to the new one: the new one's first coins come from us.

How to swap BTC to BTC, step by step.

  1. Step #1

    Pick BTC as both coins

Type how much you're moving; the desk shows about what lands, every fee already out.

  2. Step #2

    Paste your new wallet's address

A bc1q or bc1p from the wallet you're starting, never one your old wallet has paid.

  3. Step #3

    Send from your old wallet

To the order's deposit address, at a normal fee, within the hour.

  4. Step #4

    Two blocks, then the payout

After two Bitcoin confirmations the same coin goes out, from us, to the new address.

Before you send

BTC on Bitcoin

Bitcoin charges by the size of the transaction in bytes, not by the amount. bitcoin.org says the fee is not related to the amount of bitcoins being sent, which is why small swaps pay a bigger share.

  • A fee set too low can leave your deposit waiting in the mempool. If your wallet lets you choose, pick its normal or fast fee.
  • Lightning payments can't reach an on-chain deposit address. Send from an on-chain wallet.
  • Wrapped bitcoin on Ethereum or BNB Chain isn't Bitcoin and never reaches the order.

Your wallet usually shows the bitcoin within minutes of the payout, and counts it as settled after a few more blocks.

If something goes wrong, here's what happens.

You reused an old address
It works, but it joins the wallets anyway. Use an address your old wallet has never paid.
The fee was too low
If it confirms after the hour, a person finishes the order with you or refunds it.
You sent from an exchange
It arrives, but the exchange knows both ends. A wallet of your own keeps it yours.

Every rule, stop by stop: how an order runs.

BTC to a fresh wallet, answered.

How much BTC lands if I send 1 BTC?

Type 1 BTC into the desk at the top: on Fast it shows what lands before you send, with network fees in. On Stealth our fee is 2% to 6% depending on the day, printed on its own line, and the amount stays exact for the whole wait.

Is BTC to BTC a real swap?

It's the same coin in and out, and what lands comes from our payout address, not yours. On Fast the desk shows about what lands before you send, every fee already out.

Why not just send it to my new wallet directly?

A direct send links the two wallets on the ledger forever. Here, the new wallet's coins come from us.

Can I choose when it lands?

Yes: Stealth lets you pick a day from 24 hours to 30 days out, so the arrival isn't tied to the moment you sent.

What's the smallest BTC to BTC swap?

$50 worth of BTC. The largest is $29,999.
